Rubrics

The EVALUATION > Rubrics option allows you to create evaluation rubrics in a course. A rubric is a set of evaluation criteria.

New rubric

To create a new rubric and add it to the list of existing rubrics, click on the New rubric icon (plus sign) in the upper left corner of the box where the rubrics are listed or on the New rubric button at the bottom of said box. A form will appear with the following fields:

  • Title. A title for the rubric (for example Rubric for the evaluation commission of the Final degree project).
  • Description. Brief optional description of the rubric.

When you fill in these fields, click the Create rubric button. A confirmation message, the same title and description editing box, and a second box to add one or more evaluable criteria to the newly created rubric will be displayed. The new rubric will also show up in the updated rubric list.

Edit Rubric

It is possible to remove or edit each of the rubrics of the course.

To remove an existing rubric, click the Remove icon (red trash can). To effectively remove the rubric you will have to confirm the deletion by clicking on the Remove rubric button. Removing the rubric means removing all related grades.

To edit an existing rubric, click the Edit (pencil) icon. A form identical to the one shown for create a new rubric will appear, allowing you to edit the title and description. When you finish editing, click the Save Changes button.

Criteria

When editing a rubric, a Criteria box appears with a list of the evaluation criteria used in that rubric. At the end of such list a form appears to create a new criterion. The following icons are displayed to the left of each criterion that allow editing:

  • Delete (red trash can) to delete the criteria. The platform will request your confirmation.
  • Move up (up arrow) to move the criteria up.
  • Move down (down arrow) to move the criteria down.

In each criteria you can edit the following fields:

  • Title: name of the criterion.
  • Source: optional link to one of the following resources:
    • No link. Teachers will enter the grade manually.
    • Exam. The grade will be obtained from the sum of the sessions of an exam.
    • Game. The grade will be obtained from the sum of the matches of a game.
    • Rubric. The grade will be obtained from another rubric, as long as no loops are formed.
  • Minimum: lower value. Any grade lower than this will be substituted for this minimum value.
  • Maximum: upper value. Any grade higher than this will be replaced by this maximum value.
  • Weight: weighting value between 0 and 1 of the current criterion in the global computation of the rubric.

Resource Clipboard

The resource clipboard contains all the links that have been copied from the different sections of the platform with the icon Link (chain) and that have not yet been assigned to items of the program or to criteria of rubrics. To add a link to a resource, you must first go to the section of the platform where such resource is located, select it, and click on the Link (chain) icon. The link to the resource will be added to the clipboard. You can repeat this action with several resources as a shopping cart before linking them from the program or from a rubric.

Once you have added one or several links to the clipboard, go to a rubric, edit it and in the Source field of the criteria you will be able to select a link to the desired resource. As you assign links, they will disappear from the clipboard. So if you want to use the same link on two different sites, you'll have to copy it back to the clipboard from where it came from.

When editing rubrics, you can view the content of the resource clipboard by clicking the Clipboard icon in the upper left corner of the rubrics box. A Resource Clipboard box will appear with the current link list. If you want to delete the clipboard, click the Delete (red trash can) icon in the upper left corner of the clipboard; you will not be prompted for confirmation and obviously only the links to the original linked objects will be removed, not the objects themselves.
